David Bruce

David A. Bruce BA MBA PhD CA CFA

David acts as Chief Operating Officer of the AFP Group, ensuring all client services are delivered efficiently and effectively.  As well as overseeing client deliverables, he also supervises the Group’s internal business processes.

After completing his first degree in Accounting and Computer Science, David trained and qualified as a Scottish Chartered Accountant with Ernst & Young.  After spells as an auditor in the Middle East and Japan, David moved to Hong Kong in 1988 to develop the Ernst & Young’s client training capabilities.  This was followed by a 3-year spell as a management consultant helping clients with strategy and business process re-engineering.  In 1998, David joined The Financial Training Company, Hong Kong as Managing Director responsible for both business operations and product delivery.  After a management buy-out, the business was sold to Kaplan, a 100% subsidiary of The Washington Post.

David completed his MBA at Cranfield School of Management, UK in 1987 and became a CFA Charterholder in 2000.  In 2008, David was awarded a PhD by the University of South Australia for his thesis investigating how entrepreneurs introduce and develop management accounting systems.
