Apr-16-2010 Cayman Islands Signs Tax information Exchange Agreement with Australia

The Cayman Islands signed a tax information exchange agreement with Australia on April 13, 2010, during a ceremony held at the Australian Embassy in Washington, D.C.  This was the Cayman's fifteenth tax information exchange agreement.

“The Cayman Islands Government is pleased to have signed this agreement with our Australian counterparts, and we look forward to many years of co-operation between our two countries as part of our global commitment to upholding international standards of tax transparency and accountability,” said the Premier of the Cayman Islands, the Honourable W. McKeeva Bush.  “We believe this agreement will reinforce the already solid relationship that exists between Australia and the Cayman Islands, as the excellent professional infrastructure, effective legal and regulatory framework and stable business environment in the Cayman Islands are well-known amongst Australian private equity and hedge fund firms.”

The Cayman Islands is in the process of concluding negotiations with several OECD and G-20 countries, and the Government anticipates signing several more agreements over the coming months.
